Hi all,

As a new Zaurus user/owner I'd like to protect my C1000 with a screen protection, I found several websites where I could buy it from, but I could only find protection for C3000 or Cxxx series.

In my mind the Cxxxx screens are all the same right ?

I can't find any other information than resolution, color depth about Zaurus' screens.

Can anybody tell me if I'm right or wrong ?

all clamshell screens are the same size. The 6000 is bigger and the 5x00 series is smaller IIRC.

highly recommend this one. Very durable and its freakin 99 percent transparent. You dont get wierd artifacts with this one. High quality.

Yeah, I bought 5 of those from streamline. I think they are great!
I am using one on my C3100
I decided to trim another one just a small bit, and put this one on my Palm Zire 72
Now both of my portables look like they are brand new.

i know this is a little bit off topic but in my view the adventures starts only then when you try to apply the screen protector to your zaurus. as soon as you unpack it the small dust pieces in the air will stick to your screen protector, yes, you can wash it, but how would you dry it? towel? -> dust. toilet paper? -> dust..

i finally suceeded doing the following: wash it with very warm water, i experienced that warm water on a warm screen protector leads to "bigger" (and thus easier to remove) drops on it, then you can take toilet paper and touch only the drops without the screen protector itself to dry it, it is a bit of work but it works. i did all of this in the air stream of an air washer based on active coal (no joke) in order to avoid new dust pieces. the result is quite satisfactory

My technique for installing them is as follows:
1) Start a shower going in the bathroom with very hot water, to get the room steamed up. This will reduce the amount of dust in the air
2) Warm water wash, as you suggested.
3) Air dry it over a standard room air filter. Heppa filters are probably better.
4) To install the screen protector, I fold up a couple of small pieces of scotch tape, and stick them on the front of the screen protector to uses as handles. This makes it easier to handle it without getting finger prints on the back side of it. Of course, the tape then has to be removed very carefully, and any residue can be wiped off the front after installation. I'm thinking that the top of a postit note may work better / be easier to remove afterwards.

I hate screen protectors. I always manage to butcher them I loved the one I got from Streamline, but I managed to mess it up, too. A shame, it was really good looking, too. I wrinkled it, and even slashed it with the squeegee card that every screen protector manufacturer is so damned proud of. The slash did not go through to scratch the screen but nearly gave me a heart attack.

I may try some of the methods suggested here and see if they work better for me. It would be a shame to mar this beautiful screen

Okay,
I just got one of them also. Let me tell you what a bugger to put on! I still can't figure it out?!? I have all this sticky crap that comes off when I use the soft card. Plus a huge scratch on the screen protector from the "Soft Card" that I was supposed to use to take the bubbles off. Now my screen looks like crap! I don't know what to do exactly. The screen protector sticks to the screen, but it looks awful! Why can't someone really come up with a good way to place these screen protectors? Stupid instructions are so NOT helpfull! Okay, clean the screen (duh! ), but like the nice cloth to do it with that came with it, but then step 2, Remove the plastic backing? Okay, did that - and then laid it down on the beautiful screen - and then when I removed the second backing - all this gooey crap is EVERYWHERE, BUBLES GALLORE - sO much that I can hardly see the screen. This sux big time!

Okay, enough of rant. got to take this back home and put it in the bathroom and try that - but still have some large doubts regarding this!

yeah make sure you take off both layers. I butcherd 4 of brando's before i managed to get one on. brando's are like 12 dollars each. After getting good practice out of it, i managed to put one on.

I'm looking for a good screen protector for my new C1000. However, I noticed that streamlinecpus only ships by UPS. I live in Canada and UPS sucks when they ship stuff to Canada. They charge $35 handling fees on top of any other fees that are required. Not cost effective in the least.

I just received a screen protector from Ebay. It's from PDair. Where I struggeled to get a protector on my Nintendo DS without dust or bubbles beneath it, I actually managed to place this one succesfully. However, it makes my C3100's screen a little bit fuzzy. Especially on white background, I see very small coloured noise or something. Miniscule green and red dots. A bit hard to explain I guess. Is this normal for screen protectors? Are there any better ones? And do other people here have experience with the PDair protector?

did you take off the front layer? I had a similar problem, but it was because I didn't know there was a layer on the front as well as the back.
