Hello.  I\'m in WI, but have been thinking about trekking down to Shaumburg and buying some nice Swedish furniture.  If a ZUG meeting was scheduled some weekend in the near to mid future, that might be fun.

Just curious, is there anyone else in the Madison/Milwaukee region?

I\'m from the Kenosha area just south of Milwaukee and I am the WI/IL ZUG moderator.

Schaumburg area works well for me, sounds like you guys are narrowing down a spot. I\'m going to work on coming up with some \"incentives\" for showing up I\'ll post more when I got it all figured out.

Go Illini!!

I\'m sure my badgers can eat your \"illini\" anyday and spit out the seeds.
Above guest post was mine, btw, seem to be having trouble with browser cookies today.  (mmm...  cookies)

Great. I\'ll probably check it out Wednesday/Thursday night. I know for a fact parking is much easier out in the suburbs than here in the city

I don\'t think so   However, in 10 head to head matchups, I would give you guys the nod this year (last year we had the nod).  We don\'t match up that well, and Devin is just ridiculous!!  I\'ll be rooting HARD for the big ten in the tourney this year, so I\'m a Wisky and MSU fan for the next few weeks...

I checked out the Panera on Clybourn near Armitage in the city.  Not many outlets, which really hurts one\'s ability to be working there on your laptop for an extended period of time.  However, the connection was very good.  As an FYI - the Panera philosophy is to provide free WiFi, so this won\'t be changing soon and has been rolling out first in the midwest.  Very nice!

I found a decent WiFi bar in Chicago!  The Map Room on Armitage - I was there at around 4 pm, and there were several people on laptops with a beer... strange site to see!  Not enough room to meet, but I\'ll have to go there sometime soon to \"work from home\".

I am in CoffeeHaus right now. The place is not very big - a few coffee tables, mostly couches and recliners. There are 3 computer terminals available, a large screen TV. Wireless connection is great. Zaurus picked it up right away, the signal is pretty strong. It doesn\'t require any kind of authentication (unlike Panera, where after some configuration changes I was able to surf via my laptop but not the Zaurus).

Not many outlets as far as I can see (most of these places aren\'t built to support that) so gotta charge batteries first

As far as menu selection, it is mostly beverages, hot and cold. Large CoffeeHaus mocha cost me ~$3 bucks. Not much food other than cookies and muffins.

Nice comfortable atmosphere, plenty of parking - I give it thumbs up

Funny enough, I am in between doctor appointments right now in Des Plaines, and I dropped by a place called Kaffeccino.  There\'s seating for about 40 people, full Starbucks-type menu, plus convenient store/ice cream goods in the back - definitely your ma n pa type coffee house, although it\'s not too cheezy.  For kicks, I popped in my wireless card, et voila!, a \'very good\' signal strength connection.  The connection\'s wide open.

I talked to the girl at the counter, and she said that the wifi is free to use and that the place isn\'t ever ~too~ busy on the weekends, so a group of 10-12 should be just fine.  This is certainly an option, and VERY close to I-294 for those from Wisconsin.  The only problem is that there is only one open set of outlets, although I could certainly bring a power strip or two

If interested, the place is right in downtown Des Plaines, just to the west of the library, right behind the Metra train station off of Northwest Highway.  Compared to the wifi bars and Panera Breads that I\'ve checked in the city, this place or CoffeeHaus defn get my vote!  Also, I could give directions here from either 294, 90/94, or Northwest Highway since I\'m from Des Plaines.

Update - I forgot to check hours and just called

The place opens very early, but closes at 8 on weekdays, 6:30 on saturdays, and 4 on sundays...?  sorry for the oversight everyone - my vote is for coffeehaus!

i\'m free to meet pretty much anytime after next weekend.  How does April Fools weekend work?

I\'m sitting in Coffehaus right now. Thought I check it out since I work nearby. Good strong WiFi signal, fast connection.  Nice place, a little small, but I doubt our numbers are too high.

I\'d vote for April weekend, too.

Fine here also, looking forward to it.
I am still trying to pull together some \"incentives\" for showing.
