Since the hard drive partitions are not automounted, I have to mount hdc1 and hdc3 manually.
I haven't figured out how to mount hdc2, it's my swap drive.
How do I mount this partition, and enable swap?
Also my hdc3 (FAT) drive becomes read only after using it for awhile.
I have to umount it, then mount it again to remove the read only property.

Installed new nitrd.bin for akita and is booting.
I still get Module Dependencies Failed
Hard drive partitions didn't mount. Do I need to reinstall the full image to the hard drive again?

I reinstalled the full image to the hard drive (hdimage-full)
I had problems at first because it was trying to mount /dev/hda1 and wanted to efsck the partition.
I realized my inserted CF card was /dev/hda1, so I went back to the maintenance menu with the CF card still inserted. When the blue screen with the options appeared, I selected Reboot. As soon as the runlevel changed, I took out the CF card.
It rebooted and it said the hard drive was error free.

Module Dependencies checked as [OK]
My 3 partitions also automounted, and swap was enabled on /hda2
I got to the calibration screen, and it was fine this time. (The first time I installed pdaxii13, the calibration screen was messed up, it only showed 2 taps on right side and one in the middle)
It seems like the full version is running off the hard drive. I'm not sure what, if there is any benefit of having both akita and full installed at once, at this point.
I may need to do some tweaking because everything is running off the hard drive and is slow compared to just the akita flash only version.
There is no USB storage. (again)
I wonder if I have to re-install the akita version to get some of these features back?
1. speed
2. USB storage on internal storage.
EDIT:
I was hoping these 2 versions would work together.
As of now, it seems like I only have the full
 hard drive version installed alone.
I guess I'm going to re-install the akita version again (3rd time)
I really hope The akita version I just downloaded was the updated one.
I just looked and the filesizes of the "new" akita and the old one are exactly the same.
What is the purpose of installing the akita version and upgrading to the full version on a C3100/C3200?
What is the difference between doing that and just installing the full version in the first place?

I was editing my post while you posted meanie.
So what is the advantage of both versions verses just the hard drive version on a C3100/3200?
It didn't offer to copy /home and /etc from the MicroDrive to the NAND during your first boot after the upgrade.
It also won't let me reboot with a CF card inserted. It wants to run efsck.

There is no option to install anything on flash in the package manager. Only
CF
Card
/ (hda1)
Should I reflash the akita version again?
It's package manager had options to install to 5 mounts.
CF
Card
User (flash)
ide (hdc1)
ide3 (hdc3)

I went back to the akita version. I'll wait and see if the issues of "making" both versions work together gets resolved.

ok, let me get this straight.

pdaXii13 Spitz (base and full) is for SL-C3000 only and runs off the internal MicroDrive because the NAND on the C3000 is too small (it sorta works on SL-C3100/SL-C3200 but you will get errors which are never going to be fixed!)

pdaXii13 Akita base is for SL-C1000, SL-C3100, SL-C3200 and this follows the way most Zaurus work, ie running off the NAND. (SL-C3100 and SL-C3200 can upgrade to pdaXii13 Akita full since they have a MicroDrive which will give them access to pre-installed and configured applications just like pdaXii13 Spitz full, /usr is bound to the MicroDrive, everything else is run from the NAND)

The speed difference is caused by SCIM which gives you multilingual input such as Chinese and Japanese. If you don't need SCIM, uninstall it, and things will load faster... pdaXii13 base does not have SCIM, pdaXii13 full has SCIM by default.

the USB Storage option has a bug and only works for SL-C3000. This has been fixed in the latest initrd.bin (pdaXii13 Akita base) and has also been included in an updated ipk file. This fix will also be included in build 5.3 of the hdimage-full, however, the current release is build 5.2

The updated ipk can be found here: [a href=\"http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/custom/usbdconfig_1.1.1-3_armv5tel.ipk]http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/cu...-3_armv5tel.ipk[/url]

Here is a list of changes for build 5.3: http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/?q=node/210
pdaXii13 Spitz is currently on build 5.2 and thus pdaXii13 full is build 5.2
pdaXii13 Akita, since it has been build more recently, includes some of the updates for build 5.3, however, when upgrading to pdaXii13 full, some of the fixes will be overwritten by the 5.2 hdimage.

remember that pdaXii13 Spitz is the only relatively stable released version. pdaXii13 Akita is still in alpha stage...
SL-C3000 - pdaXii13 build5.4.9 (based on pdaXrom beta3) / SL-C3100 - Sharp ROM 1.02 JP (heavily customised)

Thanks meanie, I read the above post twice. The first thing I did when I installed the spitz version was to uninstall Scim and 2 Scim related things. It still seemed a lot slower than the akita version.
Opening the USB settings, for instance, took a lot longer than it does in the akita version.
The package manager is slower to open, but that may be due to having more packages installed.
The Light & Power settings is slower in the spitz version also. (This is after uninstalling Scim)
In the spitz version, how do I install stuff to flash?
I could re-flash to spitz, uninstall all the stuff I don't use, and then install the small packages to flash, but there is no option to use flash in spitz version.
EDIT:
Maybe the best way for me is to wipe my hard drive (hda1), Install akita version, then manually install the other stuff that I want, to /hda1 and flash, (since the akita version has this option in package manager).
The drive partitions still need to be manually mounted though, in the akita version.

pdaXii13 Spitz is not supposed to use the NAND since it was primarily made for the SL-C3000 which has a tiny NAND only
if you want to use the NAND, then pdaXii13 Akita is what you need.

I have a problem with fluxbox.  on My C1000 there is no text displayed in the menus or windows.  Actually I hink the font is invisible.  Anyone know how to fix it?  Am I missing fonts?  Openbox, and rox-filler work fine.
