v22 is coming this week
« on: May 04, 2020, 07:09:41 am »
Received this message last week. So... this update is coming this week.

Cosmo V22 firmware

We have been testing the V22 Android firmware for Cosmo. We have received the updated GMS approval from Google. We have also updated the security patches up to early April. We will continue testing and we hope to release the new version next week.

We strongly recommend to wait for the V22 version, but if you wish to revert to the V19 firmware we have provided a manual process for this. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DATA IF YOU FOLLOW THIS PROCESS, so we are recommending to wait until next week. The V19 firmware downgrade is at the following link: http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/C...al_Installation

More from us next week on both production and firmware.

Best regards,

Team Cosmo

@Evandro there are still some issues to resolve that we found in testing. We will send a further update on this top later this week.

So it probably won't be coming. I guess it's good that they are doing better testing this time around.

It's in the comments at Indiegogo. And a good thing they made it too, because otherwise I would have asked for a refund for the Astro.

is there a good way to keep on top of them? reading comments there seems like trying to drink from a firehose... very unorganized and info gets washed away to the depths fast.

I receive emails from Planet for each of their updates. It includes the content of the update in the email.

Can't recall if I signed up for them through the IndieGoGo campaign page or as I backer of their campaigns I automatically receive them.

As for keeping up with all the backer comments and the occasional Planet comment posted, only way I see, is to periodically, like every few days, read through the comments posted. Like you say, it's a mess there, not like here where you can find things by topic.

Received this today

Cosmo Android V22 firmware

We are still testing the V22 firmware for remaning issues.

We will have a further update on this by the end of this week.

Linux Update

We have not updated you on Linux for a while, but we have also been working in the background on some features.

We are working on the following features:

* Suspend and Resume - on open / close

* Initial Voice Call telephony support

Both have now been implemented and are being tested.

More from us this week...

Best regards,

Team Cosmo

I wish PlanetC would work on features people want instead of whatever this is.  What good is having telephony if linux suspends when it is closed?  Won't we miss all calls, texts, messages, etc.?  Is suspend / resume on open/close a useful feature?

I must be missing something.

its probably useful for people who dont intend to use this as a phone, which seems to be a suprising amount of people based on comments here and other sites. but i agree... netwrok connectivity is part of feature 0 for a modern computing device. need that first.

From the latest update, issued on 20/May:

[blockquote]Android Firmware – V22 firmware update

We now have a release candidate V22 firmware version and if all is well with the OTA updates we will release it withing the next week. Thank you for waiting for this firmware update.[/blockquote]

So if we're REALLY lucky it should drop some time on or after Monday 25th

They changed their versioning scheme, so every version number now represents the year it'll be released in. So V22 will come in 2022, V23 in 2023, etc.
