A quick queston - you read Cacko FAQ (http://cacko.biz/cacko/faq) did you?

Q: My wireless card fails to connect to my network. What should I do?
A: Turn off Autoconnect option in Network Settings application. Change ESSID from "Any" to your network specific value.

Yes.  I assume you mean that part?  Autoconnect, as per instructions posted here a few weeks ago, is already off.

I can't change ESSID because there isn't one in use here, and it doesn't allow you to leave it blank if the default box is unchecked.  In other words, "Any" should be correct- that's what worked before.

Which led? Do you mean LCD?  Do you set brightness via hardware keys (Fn + 3) or via applet?

LCD allright.
most of the time i use Fn+3 / 4.
I admit it's the well known bug, only the behaviour on resume, i was not aware of.

Okay, i take that back.  I'm assuming that something about auto-detection of SSID was broken, and the FAQ was trying to say that now we have to specify SSID.  I didn't realize before that the SSID was being autodetected for the school network, because i had to manually set it for some networks, but the school's worked with "Any".  Now that i have it set manually, it works.

Thanks, and sorry to bother you.  I am curious why the "Any" is broken now, though.

Hi, Maslovsky. New Cacko ROM 1.22 is almost perfect. I think all problems which I noticed were mentioned in the forum. Just one cosmetic modification from me if possible. Could you disable background scrolling? When I have many icons on screen I use scroll bar. Unfortunately it does scroll background as well. It would be great to scroll icons only without background.

I'm just happy with Cacko 1.22 @ C860 and looking forward to buy WiFi and bluetooth CFs for it.

1. could I choose Socket BT CF (brand new - I think, rev G) ?
Reasons: nice design, flawless connectivity with my Nokia 6310i.
Have all issues (particulary, with suspend/resume) been resolved?
Note: it should work with my notebook under SuSE Linux 9.2 (with PC Card adapter)
Alternative: Pretec

2. could I choose Socket WiFi CF ?
Reason: low power.
Alternative: Pretec

Your opinions, gurus?

Both Socket cards work perfectly with Cacko ROM.

At the console I get the message:
'The following package were previously requested but have not been installed: error
Install them now [Y/n]?'

If I say 'Yes' there are Errors that some File was not found (/usr/lib/ipkg/lists/Cacko) and it tries to connect to cacko.biz/cacko/feed.
If I say 'No' then it also can't find the /usr/lib/ipkg/lists/Cacko but installs the package.
Delete /usr/lib/ipkg folder and also similar folders from CF and SD cards. That should help with those error messages and GUI Package Manager will be able to install packages.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=60532\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Unfortunately, I did this. But as a result, I've lost all the installed applications. I.e., they run and everything. But now the package manager doesn't see them as installed, so can't deinstall when I wanna install a new version and so.

Is there any way I can get them back without erasing the flash and reinstalling?

Ouch.

In the future just go to a console prompt and type:

ipkg remove error

It will give some complaint about not finding the package "error" and then say it is purging all references to "error" from the database, and then you shouldn't get that message anymore.

That's pretty cool   I will add this to FAQ...

I have a question about the issune Battery/Brightness applet casues the problem that the screen shows nothing when you turn on the zaurus.

Can the problem be solved in the future version?

No, currently there is only a workaround available - set minimum brightness level only with hardware keys

Switch on from keyboard

Just cleaned my keyboard & found that I could switch on the Zaurus by pressing the Calendar, Address, Mail or Home keys, it does NOT work if you also use the Fn key. Home key also performs it's usual function after a brief pause.

Nice feature as I find the rear switch a bit hit & miss.

Hi,
can anyone enlighten me, where the over/underclocking applet is hidden in Cacko 1.22?
I'm not shure about that, but i feel, that kino leaves the z underclocked, when leaving from playing mp3. At least, the overall performance is rather sluggish afterwards.

EDIT: I went to Cacko's site, and low and behold, the LITE version is THERE and claims to be released!

EDIT2: Hotfix A is also out!!  (Did I miss a post somewhere?  )

I see all of the "lite" packages for the normally "built in" applications showed up on the Cacko Feed today.

Does that mean that Cacko Lite ROM is just around the corner?
