6000 - Tosa / Zubuntu On Tosa
« on: July 17, 2009, 05:07:38 pm »
I thought I'd create a new topic since what we're doing is more appropriate here.

Cortez has started work on getting Zubuntu to work on the tosa.  Details on his blog here.

I'm in the process of trying it out now.

6000 - Tosa / Angstrom + E-wm On Tosa
« on: January 09, 2009, 01:33:37 am »
With help from Dmitri and others working on the kernel for the Tosa on Angstrom, things are starting to get interesting again!

I decided I'd like to start to play again.  I was able to get e-wm installed and it even starts up to the point where the language is asked for, but can get no further.

First thing: there is no language selectable on that screen...not sure if that even matters.

The killer: the screen is not registering touches...nor do any of the buttons or keys seem to do any selecting of items on the screen.

I've got tslib installed, but I'm wondering if there's anywhere these things get logged.  Can't find anything pertinent in dmesg.

Code: [Select]
tmio-nand tmio-nand: timeout waiting for interrupt
Don't think that's anything...

If anyone has any pointers on where to start looking, I'd appreciate it.

OpenMoko / Freerunner 6000 Frankenstein?
« on: August 14, 2008, 02:23:22 am »
I've been playing with my Freerunner...it's been frustrating fun.  I took i t out today to try it as my phone, and a major shortcoming startled me.  The screen was completely washed out in the afternoon sun!  I was getting a call, and i couldn't see the button to accept the call.

That led me down a few other hardware paths (such as using a software keyboard) and I got to thinkin'...

What if i put the innards of the Neo into my SL6000 case and use the 6000's gorgeous screen?  I never had a problem with the size of the 6000 (some felt it too big), and having some of the other hardware available might be nice.

Could be a pipe dream...but I plan on at least looking into it.

Anyone have any thoughts?

So Cal / S.c.a.l.e. This Weekend

Anyone who is in the SoCal area headed there?  Apparently OpenMoko will be there as well.

I've got my ticket...

6000 - Tosa / Kexec On Angstrom Tosa
« on: January 30, 2008, 07:38:20 pm »
xjqian: you mentioned performing  a kexec into a zImage.  Never done this, but is it something like chroot, but for kernel?

What's different about the zImage on the site you referenced?

Finally, what are the details in doing this?

Thanks for the help.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Help With Tosa Keyboard Map
« on: March 06, 2007, 07:09:42 pm »
I'm having a lot of fun (and frustration) with pdaXrom!    The one thing that I can't seem to get my head around is keymapping.

I've read some of the posts for the other devices out there and searched google for howtos, but I can't seem to get some basic stuff working on the Tosa.

Particularly I'm interested in getting a CTRL key so I can interrupt whatever is happening on the console, maybe some copy/paste type functionality, etc...

OH...and the rotate button!

So I've modified the /etc/xdg/openbox/rc.xml file to try and get rotating working by doing the following:
Code: [Select]

 rotate

I tried linking the tosa.xmodmap to ~/ but nothing seemed to work.

Hope someone can help, or maybe point out something useful that my searches didn't unearth.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Feed For Tosa?
« on: February 23, 2007, 02:55:29 pm »
I've found the feed for Tosa in the downloads section, but it's limited.  Several new packages seem to be available.

@ pdaxrom.org/community there are 2 feeds listed: rc5 & rc11.  I'm not sure the Tosa is included in either of those two?

Another (hopefully) quick question:  Is there a good howto on modfiying the kemap?  The input helper doesn't get me where I need to be (basically using either the Fn button or the "dot" button as CTRL).

Thanks!

Windows Issues / Do We Have To Use Intellisync For Outlook?
« on: March 04, 2005, 12:27:24 pm »
Just curious...

Is there a way to sync OZ with Outlook that does not require the ancient and klunky version of Intellisync?

Even if it's an ugly hack, I'd be willing to try.  I don't want to be stuck with the Sharp ROM, but I'm stuck with Outlook at work.  There was development happening at opie.infofreaks.net for syncing opie with Outlook, but that appears dead now.

If the concept of OE and OZ is to move away from the stagnation of sharp's ROM's, can we also move away from Intellisync as well?

I'd like to help, but I don't know where to start.

Security and Networking / 6000 Wifi & Harmony Ap
« on: February 23, 2005, 06:06:49 pm »
I don't know if this would be better in another section...

I'm using the SL-6000L and attempting to connect to a Harmony 8551 (802.11b) access point.  The 6000's internal radio will connect to the Harmony, but won't pass packets to the router.

I tested this by using the CF Harmony wifi card in the 6000...and it worked fine!

If someone can point me in the right direction...maybe there are some settings I can add for the internal radio that will allow packets to be passed using the Harmony AP.

If no advice about changing settings/drivers, maybe some recommendations for an access point that works with the Z's internal radio.

I appreciate it!

[edit] I forgot to add...I've tried using the internal radio with friends AP's (SMC, Linksys) and it seems to work OK...only with the Harmony does it seem to have problems. [/edit]

Software / Playing media from NFS mount
« on: April 30, 2004, 11:00:41 am »
I apologize if this has been dealt with before, I did some searching and couldn\'t come up with anything.

I\'ve mounted my music server\'s directory via nfs, but none of the media players i\'ve yet tried will play the mounted mp3\'s/ogg\'s.

Has anyone used a media player that will play from an NFS mount...and did it require any special tweaking?

BTW, i\'m using an SL5500

Sharp ROMs / Sync with Hybrid?
« on: March 25, 2004, 11:05:28 am »
Correct me if i\'m wrong, but isn\'t the new hybrid rom built on sharp 3.10?

I know it\'s using qtopia 1.5 or 1.6 depending on which you choose.

Based on this i installed the rom, but couldn\'t find an application to set up syncing.  I\'ve been doing this using the usb i/o previously, and would like to continue doing so for the time being.  I downloaded the apps, but i couldn\'t find one related to sync.

Who created this rom btw...and is there some further documentation that might be helpful?

Thanks in advance.

<edit>I just noticed that there is a homepage link at the download site, but that it\'s broken: cacko.zaurususergroup.com?  Cacko\'s web site appears (rightly) to be dedicated to the pdaX project...</edit>

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Managing tabs in 3.3.6?
« on: January 13, 2004, 02:38:07 pm »
I\'ve noticed that the tabs section in Launcher is greyed out.  I did a search and found tabmanager for opie for familiar...but couldn\'t get it to work with OpenZaurus.

Is there a tabmanager application...?

TIA
