For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: Zaurus Sl-c3200
« on: November 29, 2014, 06:31:03 am »
Hi Folks,

I was once part of the wonderful Zaurus community and I have a lot to thank both the community and the device for as I have learned a great deal about Linux since I first bought one and am now working in a Linux development role as a result!

Since my C3200 no longer gets any attention I thought it was time to sell. I have the whole kit; Bluetooth adapter, wifi adapter, headphone cable remote control, faux leather case, all boxes and manuals. I've no idea what it's all worth so if anyone is interested please contact me with offers.

I will probably put it on eBay soon, but this seemed to be the place to mention it first.

If you are not interested but can give me an idea of the current asking price I would be grateful, I haven't seen any second hand 3200's sold at all and as I recall they were the top model, so I'm hoping for a reasonable deal.

mbmenu: no _MB_THEME set on root window
Segmentation fault

using latest ipk, have deleted powerctrl.cfg, using sudo.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Dual Booting Pdaxrom And Angstrom?
« on: May 06, 2007, 05:02:43 pm »
would this work with beta3/ii13 or is it only >= r121 because of uboot? Also would you have to install pdaxrom from scratch or could angstrom be install on alongside an existing beta3/r121 install? I might like to try it if I was sure it wouldn't damage my current setup.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Does Precompiled Python Load Faster?
« on: May 06, 2007, 04:51:44 pm »
That's interesting I've wondered about python speed issues myself. So is there a way to preload the python interpreter into ram to avoid this slowdown, and does that mean that it loads portions of python on demand as functions are required?

I have been tempted to start learning a little python but decided that it's too slow in pdaxrom for some things.

What about using a different gui toolkit (tk/tcl, fltk) instead of gtk?

Zort modified for Zaurus & Offline news reading

Original scripts from

I made some changes to zort in order to have a fast and easy accessible offline (or online) rss feed aggregator for pdaXrom. The original scripts have been designed with modern browsers on mind and rely on javascript and css, I have stripped it down to basic html and made it display one page per feed with header and footer links to quickly navigate between feeds.

Rename the .txt file to .tgz and unpack to the root, this will create /var/www/zort and /usr/bin/sync-rss you can change these locations if you wish.

You will need apache running with php, and you may need to tweak the timeout value in php.ini if you have many feeds. I personally run this from a debian server as it's quicker but have tested it works fine inpdaXrom also.

Also I have made a simple shell script to download the pages for offline viewing (/usr/bin/sync/rss) you should edit this script if you with to change any paths of your files - default htdocs is /var/www.

Once you have run /usr/bin/sync-rss it will create a launcher script here /var/www/offline/ (this can easily be changed in sync-rss) which will remap the scroller on a CXX00 to pgup/pgdn and launch the latest offline copy in dillo.

This was originally intended for personal use but if anyone likes it feel free to suggest improvements

Credits to the original zort author.

EDIT: please rename .txt to .tgz and unpack - sorry no ipk!

I have tried to get used to links, and I use elinks quite a lot from the terminal,  but it just doesn't feel the same for general browsing.

Do you know if there's a way to change the font/size in links-g ?

I did suspect as much as I couldn't find linux sources but I wondered if someone had worked some magic on the old version.....

All I really find usable --for browsing-- is Dillo, but there's no javascript or css . I am hopeful that Osb-browser will make it some day, but right now it just bombs out too much to be usable. Firefox is just sluggish and memory hungry. But we all already know all this eh

I will stay hopeful.

Here's a sample of Zort heavily modded by me!

For best results view pages in Dillo

(rename .txt to .tgz and unpack)

If anyones interested I have perfected offline RSS reading on my pdaxrom using zort (

It runs on apache with PHP, and I have heavily modified the script so I can download the pages as html and browse the feeds in Dillo which is really slick especially just using the scroll keys in pda mode. I've been thinking of doing an post on it but asmost people/probably don't want to have to use apache just to get feeds I kept it to myself.

Let me know if interested and I'll do a post on it.
