Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Re: CoDi Media Controls
« on: May 09, 2022, 03:14:43 am »

I have an issue with my Cosmo which you may be able to answer...
I've Android V25 for the Cosmo loaded and running successfully.
My CoDi screen shows the CoDi image with a diagonal red and black stripe running through it.
CoDi V13 was running perfectly, other than annoying me each time I switched handset on to upgrade CoDi to another version.

I did this and now have V16. A green solid dot shows top left of CoDi on the main screen when CoDi is opened from the app menu. 'Cover display operating' appears but I can't get the external CoDi data display back.

Do you know if there's a way to revert back to V13 or maybe a shortcut combination on the physical keyboard to activate the cover display?
I get the feeling that the cover display may be simply switched off and needs telling to come back on.
I've tried the menu options of 'Reset Cover Display' and 'Start cover communication' and whilst it shows that it's doing that it sits there doing nothing. V13 would show the outside symbol with the diagonal lines through it when I stopped cover communication and then turn on when I selected to start it. These were fairly instantaneous.

Any help you can provide will be gratefully received and hopefully my handset will start to realize why it was called a 'Communicator.'\

Have you tried the settings for the cover display under "Cosmo Settings"? Don't think the settings in the cover display assistant will do much of anything, if there are any "problems" there. Even if it seems to be switched on there, you might wanna try switching it off, and then on again...

Have you tried turning the "Silver side button answers call in speakerphone mode" in "Cosmo settings" on, and then off again?? Have no idea if that would help/work (or why...), but it is a "Cosmo-specific setting for dealing with the sound during a call, so COULD be related to the problem??

And i assume you have gone in to the settings for the earpiece in your bluetooth settings on the Cosmo, and have enabled it for "Phonecalls" there?

And you say you have the same problem with another (identical) earpiece from Plantronics. Have you had the opportunity to try it with another bluetooth-headset as well? Otherwise the problem MIGHT still be with the Plantronics??

That is all I can think of, but sounds like it might be difficult to rectify this problem. If all else fails a factory reset SHOULD get things back up and running... If only Planet would release their back-up-app, you could even get back to your current set-up easily... (Given that the back-up doesn't store the problem setting as well, but hopefully that would be saved "correctly", as this seems to be uncommon behavior...)

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Re: Keyboard stops working
« on: February 17, 2022, 06:54:50 pm »
Like Gymbo, I am also on V25 (stock, single boot, never rooted) and it happens to me too, though a bit more often, a few times a month, I'd say.

As for your suspicions, I think:

(1) Partly, maybe. While it seems to mostly happen when I wake my Cosmo up (usually by taking it out of its slipcase), I think it may happen randomly, but I won't notice until I wake the Cosmo up. I have had it happen while using the Cosmo (it's especially disturbing when I need to look up or write down something during a phone call). I mostly use Jota+ and Firefox, but, if at all app related, I'd suspect some system app.

I am also quite certain that I too HAVE experienced that the keyboard has stopped working AFTER it was woken up: I was in one app, and the keyboard worked as it should, and then suddenly it stopped working. So I don't really think it is related to waking the phone up, but like Daniel suggest; that is usually when you NOTICE that it has happened...

I've got this problem sometimes as well, but don't think it has happened more than 4-5 times in the last 6 months... It is a bit annoying, but like you say, a reboot fixes it. (The first time it happened, I was worried that something was seriously wrong hardware-wise, and the keyboard had stopped working altogether...)

I run V25, and do not use Microsoft apps (I use other office-apps/suits).

I've also got another intermittent bug, that I think might be related: Sometimes, when the phone reboots on it's own, the keyboard doesn't work when typing the SIM-code (but it usually works for the password). Of course that might be (or PROBABLY is) because the "driver" for the keyboard is not loaded yet. But it seems to be something similar when it STOPS working as well: The "keyboard-driver" crashes?? Why it happens, or what causes it, I have no idea, but I can at least confirm that I sometimes experience the same behavior...

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Re: Uninstalling Linux

The first option worked perfectly. Thanks!

The only problem is that Android v25 cannot be installed in this way (not listed on the web page), so I had to use v23.

But after that you should be able to install v25 OTA??

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Re: Recording phone calls
« on: October 07, 2021, 11:20:13 am »

I have tested it. The calls go to phonerecord-folder on internal storage in 3GPP audio format. However, the problem is that you have to manually start the recording for every call (the automatic recording option does not seem to be there).
Could you then use an automation app to start that recording automatically??

And one question, since you have tried it: Does it give off a "beep" when recording??

As far as I know, there is a "record button" on the main screen when on a call. What it records, and in what format and where it gets recorded to, I don't know...

(Or if it even works at all... :o )

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Re: Blue/Red LED above Tab key?

The blue/purple light seems to come on during boot, if I remember rightly.
It does, as the original poster said as well. But I do seem to remember it having some use/significance later too: I'm quite sure I've seen it, but can not remember what the phone was doing that could warrant a led lighting up at the time...

It is mainly a caps lock-indicator  (when red), which you usually turn on and off with "Fn" and "Tab" (sometimes it activates with other "Tab"-combinations as well).

The blue light I don't remember what stands for/signifies at the moment...

Astro Slide - Hardware / Re: Back side of the display ugly?
« on: September 21, 2021, 05:26:01 pm »
ALL of these look better than the back of Astro!!

Yes, I agree that having the screws accessible IS an advantage, but that should not mean that it couldn't be polished at least a bit... As it stands now, it looks like a phone the Borg (in Star Trek) would be proud of.

I certainly don't want them to postpone the delivery by months, or even weeks, to correct this, but it SHOULD have been something they already had looked into, and have a quick fix for. (In my view it is so CLEARLY that it looks terrible the way it is now, that they should have thought about it already.)

At least a better finish on the surface, or even some colour, would "solve" the problem quite easily...

And although all the "backs" you have provided pictures of already look better than the back of Astro, you have the "added problem" from Astro that it is designed to sit on a surface with the back VISIBLE to anyone sitting across from you when open, which clearly is NOT the situation with the "sliders" you have posted pictures of.

As I have stated before, I don't usually care much for esthetics, but that does not mean that I would like something that, in my view, is just plain ugly! At least not when it SHOULD be easy to rectify.

Hmm, I hope the back of the screen (with keyboard "open") will be more "refined" in a hopefully more "final" version...

I don't usually really care much about esthetics, but that was just plain ugly! :o :(

Thanks for posting for those of us not living in Tokyo, or having a private jet-plane ready and fueled for a quick trip to Japan... (And even those with that, would probably face some serious obstacles to get in to Tokyo/Japan anyway these days...)

Gemini PDA - Android / Re: AppBar how to change the clock from 24hr to 12hr
« on: September 10, 2021, 12:21:37 am »
Sorry, misread the topic...

Have tried to change different settings to try and get 12h clock on the Gemini app-bar, and can't seem to make that happen... But on the Cosmo it DOES follow the setting in the settings for time for Android.

So other than "upgrading" to a Cosmo, it might look like you are out of luck. And I doubt that getting the app-bar to display a 12h clock actually warrants that upgrade... And if you WERE to upgrade, I would recommend the Astro instead 8) :-\

I've got 24h clock in the app-bar on my Cosmo, and just turned on my Gemini to confirm I have the same there. I'm quite sure I've done nothing else than turn on 24h clock in the settings...

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Re: Google assistant on closed cosmo
« on: September 05, 2021, 12:56:06 am »
Have you tried unlocking the Cosmo with the fingerprint-sensor after closing it? (The Cosmo usually locks automatically when it is closed...)

You should also be able to activate it with the setting "Right toggle button activates voice assistant" in Cosmo settings. (As I understand it that should mean the "red/decline"-button. It would still require that the Cosmo is AVAILABLE to activate it, but you would not have to have it OPEN to activate it. Hopefully it will accept commands from bluetooth-headsets from that activation as well... You might have to unlock it before being able to activate it with the right toggle button as well??)
