I would like to start from fresh (I have Cosmo Linux Beta installed), but I dont have any official image to flash. I have seen this https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...mp;#entry294205 but I dont recognize the format of image and I dont want to flash it using wrong tool (or wrong settings). Can someone please help me out?
Just repartition back to 'Whole 128GB for android' as you did for the linux beta? That should leave you with a fresh clean base

I found this Gemini solution very useful on Cosmo too.

https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?topic=35185.0

Since, there is no "40-libinput.conf" file in "xorg.conf.d" folder on Cosmo, I made it myself (in nano), rebooted and it works. Left click, right click, 2 fingers scroll... everything works fine...
Awesome stuff, this also works properly in SDL apps. We should probably get a thread of Linux tips&tricks started to catalog all such life improving tweaks, thanks!

Found this from gemini subforum, even though mapping to silver button doesn't work but you can use any normal key combo, just assign one of the key combos in /usr/share/X11/xkb/planet_vndr/cosmo value Pointer_Button3 and then run 'xkbset m' (can also assign to left click as Pointer_Button1 which helps for SDL apps somewhat, in battle for wesnoth buttons in main menu can be clicked this way, though unit movement is still broken, maybe key release is not issued?)
Just be careful editing this file, as you could possibly make yourself unable to enter root password/login etc, best to edit some layout you're not using and switch to it and back if something went wrong, as that needs no key presses

Thank you for interest. No, I didn' do anything to compromise it. Just went to kitchen for 15 mins. It is alive, I can see it still connected to my router but screen is off. Tried to ssh from laptop, found it, but passw. "gemini" is rejected...
Shame, in any case just press and hold ESC until it reboots, no need to wait for battery to die

Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / Mobile version?

If not full mobile version (which will probably be not great on cosmo) maybe at least rss feeds can be turned on per thread, so custom apps could consume those for device specific displaying?

Is there a way to power off or restart device with buttons only? I was using debian, left it powered on, and after 10-15 mins display turned off, like to some sleep state. The blue caps lock led is on but nothing else. Do I really have to wait for batt to die...?

Btw, here it is:

Wow did you get it to suspend? In my usage it would wake up from that with tap on the screen or any keypress, did you tweak anything? ESC is still the power button so you can just hold it for 5+ seconds to power off, wish it could be switched to silver button as esc is crucial for so many apps and it's not 'back' anymore like in android

I would suggest jumping onto telegram and go into the planet group and ask on there.
Not sure which group in telegram, but the issue I have seems to be connected to polish layout, I can switch between spanish (es), en-UK (gb) and en-US (us), but pl layout is just skipped (and from terminal 'setxkbmap pl' gives 'Error loading new keyboard description', so looks like an issue with just some of the layouts)
Looks like multiple issues, one with polish layout, so edited out spanish one to have it match my cosmo hw (you can edit that in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/planet_vndr/cosmo), now as long as it is the only layout in settings it works fine, if I add the 'us' then it breaks again, this time with Fn+key combos behaving weirdly even if switching (ctrl-alt-k) between layouts seems to work in UI.

edit: a proper fix submitted on github

Anyone managed to get their keyboard layout working? Followed instructions (removed _apt user from passwd, did apt-get update/upgrade, added cosmo to model), but layout stays us no matter what, ctrl-alt-k just displays 'us' even after removing 'us' from layouts

Go into the settings -> input devices -> keyboard. In the keyboard model select Planet | Planet Computers Cosmo Communicator.

Then select apply.

This worked for me.
Yeah, still having the default (US?) layout, no luck with adding/changing layouts, so trying to find any special keys like -_" etc is a bummer

Did you do an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade? The image is from about the 21st Jan. And then reboot.
Yes, as I said followed the instructions and did all those (removed _apt user from passwd, did apt-get update/upgrade, added cosmo to model), the layout just remains in 'us' state even after removing 'us' from layouts and rebooting. Btw we need some way to get ESC remapped to ESC, that's a pretty basic key and we don't need the android 'back' in linux

... (and uppercase for any special chars seems also missing)
On my Norwegian Gemini I have the letters "æ", "ø" and "å" as an Fn-combination (hope they display correctly on the forum). And Caps-lock does not work for uppercase letter for these, but shift-Fn does.

(I assume you have tried them with shift, but just to let you know that uppercase works at least for some special characters, so it is an omission, and probably a bug/fault on Planets behalf, that you don't get it...)
My bad, nevermind, it was my faulty left shift key, just tried with the right one and it works Ó???, it was before I noticed the defect

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Auto-rotate.

I posted this message into Gemini Planet's Facebook group as well but it might be good idea to post it here as well:

"I'm 100% sure the automatic screen rotation used to work with my Cosmo with the stock FW version (V15) installed: After I ticked "Force landscape" and "Force portrait" modes off from App bar's settings the automatic screen rotation worked when I rotated the device. After I upgraded the FW to V19 it stopped working. The only way to rotate the screen is manually trigger it from the App bar: "Force Rotate".
And I just verified the automatic screen rotation is working with the same settings in my Gemini PDA. So I assume this is a bug in Cosmo's latest firmware(s)?
Luckily I was able to create a workaround by using Tasker to force the screen oriantation to landscape or to portrait mode, depending the state of "orientation sensor". Now the screen is rotating automatically if I rotate the device. But still I think this is a bug in Cosmo's Android. I've reported this issue to PlanetCom, let's see what they'll respond..."

And here are the screenshots how I implemented this in Tasker: https://imgur.com/a/MrcMDub
Cannot confirm, before updating from V15 today tried, and the only difference with the AppBar modes off was updater app launching in portrait, opera/chrome/firefox would not autorotate on v15 and v16, don't think this is a regression, just unlucky decision from start it seems

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Is it possible to edit keyboard layout?

I'm using non-english layout (Polish) and there is a problem with few keys, locale chars are on `Fn` + key combination, eg. `Fn`+`o` gives me "ó" char. The problem is I can't type `_` underscore char, because it also should be under Fn + o combination. It would be great if I could change locale chars to `Alt` + key combination.
It should be under Fn+J like this _, works, the only issue with polish keyboard is lack of ?(c with a slah on top, forum also has issues lol) (and uppercase for any special chars seems also missing), was not the only one to contact PC about it apparently, but here we are v2 with same issue, maybe your keyboard got j/o from different layout?

Yeah, if the page allows scrolling that usually works, but some pages resize to your screen and you're stuck with the address bar, even 'fullscreen' addon for firefox doesn't help then for some reason

Hmm.  Have you got an example?  I can't think of one off the top of my head.
For example https://webchat.freenode.net/ you can scroll the buffer, url bar stays stubbornly on top.
