Hi, this issue have bugged me for a long time and now finally I was able to find out with certainty what causes the bluetooth sound issues.

Issue: when locatio service is on any bluetooth audio device connected on cosmo will play sound playback with occasional silent moments or badly tearing audio.
Issue is not always present, but  it seems to be worse indoors (first I was blaming wifi)

Solution: turn off location.

I have Finnish Koronavilkku (Coronavirus exposure research and tracking app) running which uses bluetooth and other services to track location around me, could that cause issues?
I also have Situations app installed, but no bluetooth scanning enabled.

I've tested with 4 diferent types and brands of bt devices. All of them works on other phones and laptops, so the issue muust be on Cosmo.

Has anyone else had this kind of issues? Having Cosmo as a daily driver is becoming harder and harder.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Re: Codi firmware 1.1.1.16
« on: May 17, 2021, 09:02:42 am »
My Cosmo is now on a warranty repair so can't test right now. But is the latest Codi firmware still accepting touch input when the lid is open and you'd hold the device in you hands?
That "feature" alone have made me use Codi only after reboots for a second or two before I go to menu and shut it down. Sometimes when I forget to shut it down I will notice it after few minutes of usage when I'm accidentally shutting down LTE, WLAN or putting phone on airplane mode :)

Hi

It really bugs me with Cosmo is the front camera orientation with Telegram, Whatsapp and Google hangouts. Especially during these times when primary contact method with ~everyone seems to be a video call. I just can't use Cosmo for that purpose because whoever I'm speaking with can't see full image. Only distorted and cropped part of what camera sees.

Have anyone figured out any solutions or ways around this?

My Cosmo also developed similar symptoms. Sigh, maybe it's time for second warranty trip...

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Rubber feet peeling off
« on: November 04, 2020, 04:17:21 am »
Does anyone else have this problem? On my Cosmo the rubber feet that are on both ends of the hinge part are peeling off and sticking out if not pushed back in.
My phone was replaced (original was DOA) and I got mine late in the summer so it may be that my phone's HW revision could be different from the first batch? (just a thought as I tried to search for anyone else having this issue, but found none)

It's exactly same for me. Left speaker is significantly quieter than right.

Did you mean "Battery Manager"? e.g. "Use Battery Manager, Detect when apps drain battery"
or "Intelligent power saving standby"

I'm receiving notifications from Cover Display Assistant once a day telling me that "New version of Cover Display is available" but when I follow the notification to the app it just says "Cover Dispay not responding" or "Codi up to date"
This is frustrating as currently CODI is unsusable (crashes the whole phone and/or forcing phone in airplane mode randomly) and I feel that I'm being teased by nonexisting updates.

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Re: Camera
« on: September 14, 2020, 03:16:03 am »
Thank you shuntcap!
I did a quick rundown between Stock camera app, Opencamera and your port of gcam. Needless to say that gcam blew the competition out of the water.
Stock camera and Opencamera photos are ~identical to me (atleast on default settings)
One thing I noticed is that gcam photos are "only" 5.9 Mpix in size. And on some very fine details with good light conditions I can interpret more info from stock camera apps 23.8Mpix photo. (yes, I've read this thread and discussion about Cosmo's Samsung made camera sensors true capabilities. But I was left in impression that the stock app (api) is just doing something wrong and there could be more information to be fetched from the sensor, right?

But generally most of the things are so much better on gcam's photos that I've switched completely to that (atleast for now)

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Re: ESIM simultaneously with SIM1 slot?
« on: August 29, 2020, 02:00:16 pm »
Thanks for confirming. I was able to make it work too. I just had to quickly put my phone to airplane mode and then back online to actually make the switch between physical sim2 and esim on sim2 "slot"

Now I was able to test with the third network operator. Sadly none of them have sufficient network coverage for remote work in summerhouse :(

Cosmo Communicator - Android / ESIM simultaneously with SIM1 slot?
« on: August 29, 2020, 02:58:38 am »
I've been trying to get LTE working alongside with calls and sms from sim slot 1.
But when I activate esim in esimwallet app it just says that it would like to use sim2 only.
du-uh

Hitting cancel closes the app and pressing ok just brings the same prompt back very soon, no way to adjust any settings etc. in the esim wallet anymore :/

And I'm very much aware that sim2 and esim are mutually exclusive, but even sim1 and esim now?

What I would like to accomplish is to have internet coming from ESIM (better reception from that isp here, and calls etc. from sim1(my phone number is tied there)
I can do this with physical sim in sim slot 2, but right now I'd rather not visit stores or wait for mail to deliver yet another sim card.

Background: there are 3 network operators in Finland: DNA, Elisa and Telia. I happen to have a summerhouse in a place where two of the three providers have really really bad reception. I would like get definitive answer which is best for me but having all three in my use without swapping sim cards would be best, but that does not seem to be possible with Cosmo?

Cosmo have been my daily driver for a week now. Here are my first impressions.

Hardware:
I'm constantly trying to type two-handed with thumb typing a'la Motorola Droid4. That's not going to work on Cosmo as the amount of buttons you're able to reach without changing the phone's position is not enough for efficient usage. But even though my fingers and hands are not that small I'm still able to type this with 10 fingers in a laptop type typing. Just not as convinient as thumb typing when on-the-go.
Two of the buttons stuck in midway. They seemed to work just fine when typing but when the "lid" was closed and all buttons were pressed to roughly middle of their travel two buttons (l and f) were stuck in the midway. I popped them out and carefully checked their double u shaped parts under magnifying glass and found out some anomalies. I was able to scrape them to almost identical shape as rest of the working buttons with an x-acto knife and now all buttons feel and look identical.

Screen is ok and speaker quality seems better than what I'm used with phones so far. Hinges do squeak but I dont mind that. I'm not yet confident with my knowledge of what accessories  to plug  in to which port. That may be something I'll take a look in the future.

Software (not codi. that's last section):
Most of the software that had Planet in the beginning of the name were completely useless for me. I don't want to become dependent of software that may not be available or could not work on another hardware, so I ended up disabling them apart from sync addon (Not clear if that may broke something) and Codi updater.
Some of the functonality of the buttons have changed. First the silver button acted like an power button, but now it's acting as a back button in Chrome Browser (also alt+esc seems to act as a back button... weird)
On some apps alt+tab lights up caps lock light on first attempt and initalizes task switch on second attempt. Telegram is one of those apps.
I ended up changing the keylayout with FinnQWERTY -app (swapping ä and ö) as the default layout was weird and anything but optimal for Finnish language, that app may have something to do with the weird behaviour of buttons?
Typing english (this text for example. written with Cosmo) relies lot of ':s and that's (again) not intuitive in finnish layout keyboard. Maybe with more training I'll be able to type better without looking at button prints.

Codi:
Had to be disabled as phone kept crashing/rebooting 5-10 times a day. Sometimes 3 times in a row within 10 minutes. Now codi disabled perfect uptime or 3 days and battery life seems to be almost doubled compared to the time with codi on.
Also phone kept locking itself in middle of typing etc. when codi was active. Now that codi is disabled - no more random lockscreen interruptions.

Summary:
This is the only phone with native finnish keylayout, so what are my options? :D I like it but I don't yet know how to use it efficiently. Without codi it' definitely not a phone as I can't even check the clock one handed. Not to think of doing anything else one handed. no more quick bus timetable check or anything unless you're prepared to stop and use both hands.
I hope codi would be fixed in an upcoming firmware release. And I hope Planet Computers would open their bugtracker to the public.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Re: CoDi firmware T1.1.1.15

Anyone tried this yet? I can't use codi with 1.1.1.14 as phone keeps restarting if codi is enabled.

Quote from: Simon Pooley
Planet looked at my failed Cosmo after a week (once it had got to the top of their service queue) and were unable to resuscitate it.
They sent me out a replacement (new) unit on Friday which arrived on Saturday.

So, on the whole, good service from Planet (Thank You) but rather disconcerting to have experienced a quite unexplained failure resulting in a completely dead unit.

How long did it take for them to haul your support request "to the top of their service queue"?
I've been now waiting 8 days. I got briefly someone to answer via PC's FB-chat but no luck getting anything actual (e.g. shipping label or instructions).
