[Bug/problem with swapfile in Memory applet] ?
I don't mean to change the subject and I did a search first for this.
I just used my NAND backup from Trisoft for my C3100 and restored my original Sharp ROM, then I installed Cacko ROM 1.23.
This is the second time I've had Cacko 1.23 installed.
The first time, I immediately changed themes, so I never realized the "memory applet" on the taskbar was available.
My point of this post is, that there is a bug or problem with the "Swapfile" enabling function.
I enabled a 64Mb swapfile and it was working fine. It was located in /hdd3/Documents/
I verified this location by taking a look at it in Tree!Explorer.
I later decided to reboot my machine from the Qtopia boot screen, (accessed from Settings | Shutdown).
I think my problem may have been caused by, me not disabling the swapfile, before I rebooted.
The reboot was different than a "normal" reboot.
There was no graphic band at the top of the screen with Qtopia and other elements, like there is in a "normal" reboot.
Then it hung up at this error and kept repeating this error:
-------------------------------
hdd3: cannot find interrupt
-------------------------------
I'm not sure if I remember the exact wording, but it was saying it could not locate an "interrupt"
I had to resort to battery removal.
20 seconds later, I re-inserted my battery, plugged my C3100 into AC power and switched it on.
It NOW booted normally. Once I was back in Qtopia, I examined the swapfile in the "Memory" applet. It had been disabled.
I also looked at it in Tree!Explorer, and it was still there.
I decided to remove the swapfile, if it was going to cause these problems.
I removed it using the Memory applet, since that was the program that created it.
My question is: If I decide to use a swapfile again, should I Enable/Disable it whenever it is Needed/Not Needed?
I was using the swapfile to try to get a stubborn PDF file to open in QPDF 2.2.1
It never opened, This file opens easily in Picsel Browser on my Palm
