Finally got pdaxii13 install on my C1000. Everything runs ok, and I can install ipks ok. Problem now is the Brightness and Zoom shortcut key don't work?

Anybody with C1000 having the same problem?

VirtusRex
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156154\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I believe Meanie remapped some keys in pdaxii13.  I believe the function key is now mapped for generating F1 - F10 (function keys, kinda makes sense) using 1-0.  Try the kanji key next to the dash to activate zoom and brightness.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156167\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yep, the kanji key works for brightness control, just need to figure out what the zoom control is.

Thanks Drake01,

Did you try FN+D+M? (Two utilities are included -- D+M and FN+D+M in case one gets corrupted).
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156262\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Yes, and it's my understanding that the menu brought up by pressing FN+D+M can not be overwritten by a bootloader, etc.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156264\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yes, I've tried Fn+D+M too, also without success. So, I followed sashz instructions and I noticed that my OK + Resume ('Install') menu looks a bit different after doing so (maybe I imagined this?) but it hasn't made any difference in getting the Diagnostic Menu up. I've tried- both D+M and Fn+D+M a few times again since with no luck, it just starts booting pdaX.

Hope I don't need to have to get the NAND replaced as I certainly can't afford that for some time

EDIT

As I understand it, option Number 2 in the Zs maintenance menu (which I CAN access) contains 3 'Error Checking' options but I don't know what they do. Which number checks the integrity of my NAND, if such an option is there?

Although I did get an Error message window saying that rox might not display correct file types as it couldn't find 'shared-mime-info (v.0.9 or later)'......it said that I should download and install it....
In 'Look&Feel' I tried to select the pdaXrom background image but it doesn't change from the gray color....

Starting to think I should just do a fresh install of pdaXii13 v.5.3.2 rather than trying to fix all these weird things going on...
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Download shared-mime-info_0.20_armv5tel.ipk from meanie's pdaxrom feed.
Depends: glib2, libxml2 (I think libxml2 is already installed)
[a href=\"http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/feed/]http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/feed/[/url]

Rox doesn't use Look&feel to change the background, this is only available in openbox.
In Rox, right click background (Fn+tap), then select Backdrop
EDIT:
Also, Rox has a comprehensive page of options. I think you can relocate the taskbar if you want.
right click background (Fn+tap), then select ROX-Filer > Options

I'm not trying to patronize you, but, have you tried getting into the Fn + D + M menu before?
If not make sure you (I hope I'm remembering this right):
unplug power, remove battery cover, remove battery, press the reset button, press and hold down Fn + D + M insert the power cord...wait for it.

Just one question, after reading the below section on the "pdaXii13 build 5.3.x" post at tyrannozaurus, I thought resuming my Z would be faster.
It still seems to take the same amount of time as it always has. It now takes 8 seconds. I didn't actually "time it" in earlier installs.

meanie (on tyrannozaurus)
rotate script
the rotate script x11scr has been updated to utilise the rox-backdrop script (rox-bset) to change the background image on rotation. also, closing the display will turn off the backlight. re-opening the display or resuming the zaurus will not cause the screen rotation from running several times and thus will be faster. this fix is included in the latest rotate package.
(applies to base and full)

the file was 192MB last time I checked, but now it is only 82MB
sigh.. need to re-upload...

actually, it's not too bad, i have two little fixes i wanted to add anyway so now I am going to regenerate the new image and upload again. this will take about 5-6 hours...

i will include the latest zbackup which allows you to take a restorable snapshot of your C300, C3100, C3200 and C1000, and maybe others as well...
also an updated datentime python script. this one sets the datte/time so it survives a reboot

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=156271\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Okay, I dragged my Z over and tried the zoom control using the kanji key (which I believe Meanie has referred to as the "Super" key) and the 2 key.  It zooms for me using this combination, and un-zooms using Super+1.

Have you tried these?

According to pdaxcfg, I'm using pdaXii13 build5.3 "Sally", and it works for me.

The super key (right kanji key next to the dash) works for me for all 4 functions.
kanji+1 = zoom out
kanji+2 = zoom in
kanji+3 = bright-down
kanji+4 = bright-up

Also, if you want to find your version of pdaxii13, type the following in a console:
---------
version
---------
EDIT:
meanie, if you read this, why do I get this when I type version?
pdaxii13 build5.3.2 (Alice) .....
This must be an error. I just exited X and the display says:
pdaxii13 build5.3.2 "Sally"

That fixed it meanie, it now shows:
pdaxii13 build5.3.2 "Sally" - Linux 2.4.20 for SHARP Borzoi (XScale-PXA270)

I know this is trivial. I looked for Borzoi, so I could change it to Terrier
That must be gotten from the processor, or cpuinfo, or Hardware.
I'm not really concerned about this, just an observation. Don't bother to reply to this.

Has anyone been able to get a Symbol Spectrum24 or a Socket Low-Power WLAN CF working under pdaXii13?

I copied the Symbol firmware files (symbol_sp24t_prim_fw & symbol_sp24t_sec_fw) under /etc/pcmcia/firmware/ as Meanie suggested herebut dmesg says that it can't find the firmware.  My firmware was copied over from a working copy of Cacko.  Cardctl identifies the card as:

Code: [Select]
product info: "Symbol", "Spectrum24 LA4100 Series WLAN PC Card", "1.00"
manfid: 0x026c, 0x0001
function: 6 (network)

Dmesg shows the following after insertion:

Code: [Select]
orinoco 0.15rc2HEAD (David Gibson , Pavel Roskin , et all)
spectrum_cs 0.15rc2HEAD (Pavel Roskin
, David Gibson
, et al)
spectrum_cs: Cannot find firmware: symbol_sp24t_prim_fw
spectrum_cs: Firmware download failed
hermes @ IO 0xf6000000: Timeout waiting for card to reset (reg=0x0000)!
wlan0: failed to initialize firmware (err = -110)
spectrum_cs: register_netdev() failed

So does anyone have a magic recipe that can fix this bearing in mind that I can be pretty clueless at times?
I think I'm coming down with what kahm's got!  I now have 3 Zaurii in house!  ;)
