Hrw, are there any QT compatible good word processing apps (support RTF at least) for OPIE?
I'm trying to decide whether to run GPE and OPIE or just OPIE. I understand it is quicker to run both at the same time than running "X/QT" apps, so if that is the only way to get a good word processor, I'll probably run GPE and OPIE at the same time (ram shouldn't be too much of an issue because I typically only leave one app open at a time). |

I had similar problems. The reason for mine was that my SD card was formatted FAT. When I converted it to a linux partition - no linking problems. However, my 5500 doesn't work well with OpenZaurus; the clock forgets the time on shutdown and the unit often freezes on shut down (only way to recovery is a reboot). Not very helpful! Also, I didn't manage to get the IntelliSync software to work despite trying fairly hard.
Adam QUOTE(Xplorer @ May 31 2006, 03:57 PM) Hi,
I have an SL-5500, originally with Sharp ROM. Then I reflashed it with Cacko, worked OK. I tried pdaXrom, did not work OK, never got past the "empty folders" stage. Now I tried to flash it with OZ 3.5.4. The installation process worked OK. The system came up and everything was fine until I started to install other software on my machine. The stage called "Linking packages installed in: sd" (I install on the SD) gives me following errors: Error linking '/media/card/packages/opt/QtPalmtop/opera/start/index.html' to '/opt/QtPalmtop/opera/start/index.html' This is not just one error, but _LOADS_ of them! Probably one such error for every file copied to SD while installing Opera. How do I proceed from here? I tried and retried installing OZ over and over again, the errors remain. I tried to install some other ipk's with the result that the standard menus got foobar, up to the point when I had duplicate entries and almost none of the apps on the menus worked anymore. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks /ZJ |

Thanks /ZJ There are several posts on the OZ/OPIE and OZ/Common threads that address OZ installation issue for folks with collies (just look for posts by myself or snappy). I just recently got my collie up and running using a loop-file with 3.5.4.1 and Hentges card file system (hentges.net). With this current arrangement, I have had very few problems, only a few quirks. Regarding applications, opie-writer produces an html document that most word processors can use. Opie-sheet is a nice spreadsheet and konqueror isn't a bad browser. I have also installed a blackdown jvm that actually starts up for me. I found a note posted on a website stating the guy actually was able to run basic swing-based java programs on his collie. I am also experiementing with xqt2 to see if I can get Firefox and abiword going. Chris-- |
