Hello,
I have looked thru most of this forum (and others) in order to find the answers to some specific question i have regarding the SIMpad sl4, but havent really found anything. On eBay (Germany) there are several SIMpads being auktioned and thats where I am going to try and get one. Basically its the large (800x600) screen that appeals to me. My primary if not only use of the SIMpad would be for viewing JPEG's of comics (not comic strips but full pages) on the go. (looong train-rides every day) I would then invest in an adapter for memorycards that would fit in the PCMCIA-slot. These memory-cards would then contain the JPEG'S. Simple as that right? My questions are as follows: Does Windows CE 3.0 come with picture-viewing software? Is Resco Photo Viewer compatible with windows 3.0 on the SIMpad? Are the other programmes available for viewing JPEG's? If anyone would like to give their opinions, reckommendations or experiences regarding viewing comics (in my case appx. 1000x1500 pxls per page, obviously the lower resolution of the SIMpad would result in quality-loss but I believe the text will still be readable...) please feel free to do so. Thank you for reading. |

Simple as that right? yes QUOTE Does Windows CE 3.0 come with picture-viewing software? Not sure - does internet explorer do the job? QUOTE Is Resco Photo Viewer compatible with windows 3.0 on the SIMpad? if it's a windows program then probably not - wince is not to be confused with windows. QUOTE Are the other programmes available for viewing JPEG's? Bound to be, except you might have problems trying to get wince software that's not dll-hell (I know I did). QUOTE If anyone would like to give their opinions, reckommendations or experiences regarding viewing comics (in my case appx. 1000x1500 pxls per page, obviously the lower resolution of the SIMpad would result in quality-loss but I believe the text will still be readable...) please feel free to do so. If you can get a simpad with linux (or get a wince and replace with linux) you'll find any amount of software for viewing pictures... for photos I don't think I needed any software outside of a normal install. I've tested picture viewing a good while ago. May have changed a lot since.
With a web browser, it was dreadfully slow (using M$ IExplorer or Opera under Linux). In the Linux packages I found MooView, which is pretty fast, but crashed my pad most of the time. I hope there are better programs, and I just haven't found them. |
