Sunday Dec 10th @ 2:00 pm?
BTW Grog...I got Kelly's email address from Dan. I might know of one more person from MUUG that is interested in the Zaurus but doesn't have one yet. He said he would like to join us. I ask the MUUG about free WiFi in the 'Peg and they recommended this place: The Twist One of us should try and scope it out in the next week. Grog, you work down town, eh? Wanna try and swing over there? Here's the location: http://www.twistcafe.com/location.asp |

I'm in. Looks like a nice place but, the stools look mighty uncomfortable. I might be able to scope it out next week depending how hairy it gets at work.

I had someone from MUUG email me this:
Both Mondragon (http://mondragon.ca/) & The Fyxx on Albert in the Exchange have access to some open access points. How do you guys feel about using random open access points. I'm not super keen on it. The Fyxx on Albert is a nice coffee shop but last time I went they didn't have the largest (real) food selection. |

QUOTE(Antikx @ Dec 4 2006, 12:09 PM) I vote NO to that as well. They might very well be good establishments, but to base the decision on where to hold our meeting on a place just because it's close to some poor schmuck that hasn't locked down his access point just isn't right. |

As someone who recently forgot to relock his access point after a troubleshooting session and had his access point severely reamed for his forgetfullness; I second that vote. ![]() |

Sorry for the late notice guys, but I'm afraid I won't be able to make #3. We've been invited to an out-of-town family xmas pot-luck. I'll probably take my Z & take time to search for hotspots, though

No worries mate. We'll miss ya though!
Holovector... I've been brainstorming some more about the C1000 pdaXrom NAND I've been talking about. Can I bring my brainstorming list and you (and whoever else pops by) help me nail some stuff down? |

I'll do a NAND backup on my C1000 so that we can use it as a guinea pig if need be. |

Notes from meetup:
-Welcomed Kelly -Antikx and HoloVector showed off SCUMMVM to Kelly. Antikx shook his fist at Holovector for getting him addicted to SCUMMVM. ![]() -Kelly talked about his Linux experience and current Linux setup. -OT stuff we chatted about was: Motorola's OS9, Tandy's M10X's, various old computers and servers and about how most youth now days will never know about load/saving programs to cassette -Talked about Kelly's 5500 and 5600, running OZ on them and doing USB networking through his cradle. -Talked about the screen corruption problem when using "vi" in pdaXrom and OZ. -Kelly and HoloVector humoured and helped Antikx work through the brainstorming he's been doing on his Wiki about the C1000 pdaXrom NAND he would like to put make. -Antikx intruduced the idea of asking MUUG to create a list-serve for us. HoloVector and Kelly agreed it was a good idea. Grog... what do you say? -Did I miss anything? If we are to have a list-serve list we should decide on a name. I was thinking: -ZUM (Zaurus Users of Manitoba) -MLZU (Manitoba Linux and Zaurus Users) -MZU (Manitoba Zaurus Users) -MZUG (Manitoba Zaurus Users Group) I'm tossed between ZUM and MZUG. What do you guys think? |
