I bought a 256MB Kingston SD chip. Straight out of the box I dropped it into the zaurus. The zaurus seemed to recognize it and listed it under the system info -> storage, but I could see how to write to it. I guessed I had to dump data on to the chip via a USB reader on my PC. I bought a reader and put the chip in. The reader can't seem to initialize the chip. Whenever I click on the removeable drive icon in windows it locks up explorer. I downloaded a SD formatting utility called widowmaker for the zaurus and tried to format it from there, but it didn't seem to do anything.
Did I corrupt the chip by putting it in the zaurus without formatting it first? I'm going to try and exchange the chip, but I'm curious what I did wrong. Thx |

I replaced the chip. No joy.
I replaced the reader and it worked like a charm. Proof once more that SanDisk gear is crap! Don't use sandisk readers or chips. |
