Hi,

i'm having troble with sound, i've installed oz 3.5.2 gpe initrd.


dmesg shows

PPP BSD Compression module registered
ide-cs.c 1.26 1999/11/16 02:10:49 (David Hinds)
Collie Sound Driver Installed
TC35143F audio driver initialized


and

root@collie:~# cat /dev/sndstat
COLLIE DMA sound driver:
sound.format = 0x10 (signed 16 bit little)
sound.speed = 44100Hz (phys. 44100Hz)
sound.stereo = 0x1 (stereo)


but /dev/dsp* --> no such device

if y try to play a file with ogg123

root@collie:~# ogg123 foo.ogg
=== Could not load default driver and no driver specified in config file. Exiting.

with switch same thing

root@collie:~# ogg123 -d /dev/dsp foo.ogg
=== No such device /dev/dsp.


please HELP !!!!!

the kernel driver for sound was left out of the 3.5.2 gpe build...

There is no sound till 3.5.3 at the earliest... there was some discussion about this in another thread...

No no no, the kernel driver for sound-over-buzzer was left out. Sound over headphones via /dev/dsp should work.

Thnx, but can do nothing with your info.

can someone point me to a link with step by step instructions on how to get sound with oz 3.5.2 via the headphones ?

it's not clear to me if it is or it isn't sound support ...
