I'm done. Check it out!

I love the finish. I may have rushed the corners on the front a bit, but it still looks a billion times better.

I love the final look. Check out what I done with the battery cover.

I'm loving it.

Oh, and I must say I was very surprised at how easy the paint comes off. I'm using a fine 600 grit wet 'n' dry sandpaper and am sanding very gently. I hope the components in the Zaurus aren't as cheap as the paint it's colored in.

hehe,

The main temptation is to rush it,  but doing so will actually take longer or look crap.

What do you think to the smooth matt finish? I was going to paint mine, but loved the matt  finish so much it's still like that now.

The main advantage is that no more paint can rub off.

Wow, that looks great! Do you have to disassemble the Z to start working on it? I only plan on doing the area around the screen and the arrow area.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=66616\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yep you have to take it to bits otherwise you wll damage the parts you don't want to sand, eg the screen and the water from the wet n dry sandpaper will kill your z.

wet n dry sandpaer is as it implies, is sandpaper that can be used either wet or dry.

When it is wet, it isn't as abrasive and doesn't produce dust.

Use the fine stuff, as the coarse stuff will put deep scratches in it and give you more work to do in the long run.  It will take several hours to do it right, if you rush it it will look like crap.

If you only want to do a small area, than stick some tape over the bits you don't want to do or you will end up having to do the whole lot.

The hard bits are where there are grooves as it is difficult  to remove the silver paint from them with sandpaper. I used a scalpel for those bits.

2. Sand the stupid grey gloss off the front somehow. But is it possible to sand plastic (perhaps with a really fine sandpaper)?

See this thread.

General Discussion / Why CF are cards always "ejected" at suspension?
« on: February 06, 2005, 05:59:38 am »
my 128mb sandisk cf card works fine, no eject.
My 512mb kingston cf card gets ejected, but only on resume.

Cxx0 Hardware / Damaged C700 Power Inverted

Just a thought,
has anybody tried recharging through the serial port after frying their circuit?

I presume it would still give the same results, but it is worth a try just in case it's only the power socket that's affected.

User Request for Applications / mod/xm/s3m tracker for the Z?

slapout,

It seems both are players and not trackers...bummer

& to Terrorphile, I'm with you on this I think a tracker would be a fun production app that could work on the Z. I'm talking about smalls samples to, within 50-200kb each.
I started a thread at:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...c=9185&hl=music

I hope to try the FunkTrackerGold listed there. I imagine if a MOD player works on the Zaurus then a tracker should as well.
Playing the mod is the hard part in terms of processing power etc.

After all, the first decent mod trackers were on the st and amiga and if I remember correct they only ran at 30 mhz, or so.

I guess the hard bit would be getting a usable interface to work with the small screen and stylus.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Status Update..
« on: December 24, 2004, 04:41:42 pm »
Laze,
Don't sweat it!.
Enjoy your christmas you don't need to be working over the holiday and you certainly don't need to deliver a rom on christmas day. Snow or no snow,  Take a day off have a few beers and take your time. If it's snowing them go sledging build a snowman

Only the die hard few will be flashing a rom on their Zaurus rather than having fun anyway.

and you can have a merry christmas from me too.

Foxdie,

I know it's hard working over christmas, but it's better to be working over christmas than not working at all.

Plus the overtime should be good.

I worked over new years 2000 and it helped form the better part of the deposit on my house.

Take into account the change freeze and it was the easiest money I have ever earnt.

No users to "break" things with their little tweaks etc etc.

Had I been out partying I would have been too drunk to remember the event anyway.

Have a good one!

Software / How to get midi playback working? Timidity patches?

Playing doom with the midi background music adds a whole new dimension to gameplay (If i can just figure out how to open the door).
bring up the menu, select options, then choose setup, then key bindings

on the first screen select a suitable key for the 'use' function.

run up to the door and hit this key.

I use the - key on my c760 as it is next to the space bar which I use for fire.

What happened to the keep both option?

If you want  a palm, then go Buy one!

If you want only the one rom, and like having things imposed on you then buy a pocket pc and enter their world of DRM and expensive closed source apps that don't work.

The zaurus is about choice. That's the whole point of open source And that's why I bought two of them.

If you don't like having a choice then go away from here, and don't try to impose your silly ideas on us!

User Request for Applications / Zaurus Camcorder

How about wireless webcams?
They should then work with any zaurus with a wifi card.

You can then also use it as a security camera, or a baby monitor.

+ many other possibilities.

Some of them offer a web front end too, so integration may only be a matter of starting up your favorite browser.

Hi,

I use Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11
It works well with the cacko 1.21b.

Thanks for your very good work!
I have the older version of this card

Code: [Select]
cardctl ident
Socket 0:
 product info: "BUFFALO", "WLI-CF-S11G", "", ""
 manfid: 0x026f, 0x030b
 function: 6 (network)

it was a popular card with zaurus users.

Can't wait for the new rom, keep up the good work.

Peter
