General Discussion / Running Zaurus (akita) Without Battery
« on: November 08, 2009, 03:03:28 pm »
You're somewhat out of luck, I'm afraid. Whilst the D+B trick does allow you to start the system up, the power hardware will still permanently report critical-low battery status. Depending on the distro, this may be ignorable, but I don't think there's any real way to get Cacko or SharpROM to do so. The only real solution here (besides installing something other than Cacko) is to get a replacement battery (original or cheap EBay).

Also, there is no  'backup battery' in the c3xxx series models, so you don't have to worry about that.

Debian / Debian Screws Apt, What Am I Doing Wrong?

I suggest checking that your partitioning setup is correct - it's possible to make it so that multiple partitions partially overlap each other or extend past the actual size of the device, which can cause all sorts of intermittent and cumulative problems.

I don't think you'll find the strips as spares, unfortunately - you'll either have to fashion replacement strips yourself, or salvage some from another Z.

They're actually fairly common on Ebay these days (just as the configuration got officially deprecated, go figure) but conics.net has them if you want to be certain of getting the correct cable.

Debian / Socket Bluetooth Cf Card Not Working (surprise!)

I modified my apm suspend/resume scripts to eject/insert the card automatically; it seems to work fairly well.

Yes, the C3000 and later don't have the easily blown fuse of the c860's.

Your battery is probably dead, if it's been discharged for that long. A new battery might make all the difference.

Why did you resurrect five different threads, all years old, just to say the exact same thing? Bad doggy, no biscuit.

Try

strings ./ttn | grep "\.so"

to yank out the lib names forcibly. And check to see if /lib/ld-linux.so.2 actually exists - that hardcoded path seems to cause some grief.

Ok, maybe it's a library issue - not having the libc5-compat libs perhaps? What does 'ldd' say about ttn?

Are the errors related to missing files? The mtdparts option in kernel-cmdline must match the partition sizes in your internal flash.

Augh! I encountered that back when I was using gadget networking, but it's been 6 months and I've completely forgotten how I fixed it!

Actually - did you ifup usb0 before or after plugging the cable in? I seem to recall it never worked properly unless I started it with the cable disconnected on the zaurus end.
