« on: June 26, 2007, 10:56:22 am »
I have tryed once or twice.
The test imagess are with bugy screen calibration.
Then I've tryed to build image by myself.
After few hours bitbake give error in compiling some package, and I gave up.
I'm neether programer nor linux guru. I have some basic knowege, but not enought to understend what went wrong.

There is still something in screen and backligth. When I try to switch off backlight with aplet screen goes off too. When I use ison in Setihgs tab screen switches off one level obove "no backlight.

My Wifi card,TRENDnet TEW-222CF, is not initialize by the Z. I think it was dual power card, 3.3V & 5V. May be this is the problem.

I supose that i should report this in some bug tracker but i dont know where. I supose these are related with 2.6 kernel.

At first look everything is ok.

May be is good idea to remove "/" as option for instaling cardfs. After that there is no plase for cariblation of touch screen. Only for sl-5x00 models ofcours.

The color for text about altboot password is too dark, I think. I find it hard to read it.

Splash screens are very cool

P.S. havent use oz from 1.19 ore something.

P.S. Where are cardfs images?

P.S. One beer for the one who gave the idea mail led to lork as hdd activity indicator. Great.

One more here.

It's some kind of kernel problem. Changing zimage.bin whit older version gives a warning.

Any Reason you need to stay with 3.5.3? I have been using the latest version of the hentges rom (based on 3.5.4.1) with the kernel from 3.5.4.2-rc2 and it works very well.

Hm for me too.
Maybe it was temporary.

It comes and goes. May be the server load is too big.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz & Poodles Problems
« on: September 15, 2005, 03:44:30 am »
But I cant use it like it should be used so I' geting back to Sharp.
PROS
1. Hentges & bootstrap boot ok.
2. Cardfs & altboot are great idea. Cardfs was very useful for me but altboot couldn't be tested because of lacking of ext2 images.*
3. Opera works fine after some tweaks

Probably Jeode & Hancom will too but havent tryed.

CONS
1. Can't boot nether Opie nor GPE standart images.
2. I have to move one entry from hermes.conf to hostap_cs.conf if I wont WiFi.
3. After 3-4 instaling GUI and console ipkg tool stops to work freezinf my z

*Here more about ext2 images.

And before flaing me that forums are nor bugtrackers and etc. I want to say few things.
I'm not a Linux user. Moustly I work on Windows. I belive I have good enoght knowage about OS( have worked hardly on dos and almoust every type of Windows and have some basic knowage about *IX) and computers. I'm not afraid of console tryed alotof things there ro make Opie suitable for me.
So I give up.
At least till next release of OZ & Hentges.
From what I've see in Hentges it's  closer to what I would use on my Z. Keep it improving.

[...]Now I need a simple howto for that ext2loop_rootfs.bin... unless you can supply a small one for testing to prove that this works on a poodle. I would be happy with a bootstrap.
I've uploaded a poodle ROM + cardfs and a poodle ext2loop here:
http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/poodle/Any feedback is welcome
Please note that this release is completly untested  [div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=82529\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Can you anyway make a quick and durty howto make these ext2 images plz.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Poodle R43 Kernel To Test

Report does that kernel works better for your poodle (also give info if it does not).
I can't get the r43 kernel to boot past the OpenZaurus screen with a blinking curser at the top left corner.

I'm using the Hentges T3 image (the latest build) and I have a PXA250. I have removed the checkversion script but it doesn't get that far. It appeared to flash normally but I don't have an md5sum to check the kernel... can you post one?

If you think it makes a difference I can flash the official 3.5.3 oz image?

Has anyone tested this with the Official 3.5.3 oz image?

Thanks,

Greg[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=94841\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I heve the same behaviour with both kernels (standart and new) and any GUI. bootstrap image runs with any kernel.
Hentges T3 image an its kernel works ok too.
