If I have been running for a while since my last reboot, when I try running Qtopia games designed for the old Zaurus 5500, my C1000 will go to the black screen like it's switching resolutions for a few seconds and then show the reboot screen. However, it's actually locked up, and I have to open the battery cover and reset the C1000 to get it respond again. If I try running the same game immediately after a fresh reboot, it runs fine.
I typically run the PIM apps, Kino2, some 640x480 games, and the SNES and NES emulators so it's possible that one or more of them has been run between the reboot and the crash. I haven't narrowed down the conditions more specifically yet.
Examples of games that do it are: Froot, zBlack-Box
Is anyone else having this problem? It's the only real problem I've encountered while running the latest Cacko ROM. (Other than wrong-sized window decoration icons when in 320x240 mode.)

When I was deciding whether to upgrade from my old 5500 to a C1000, I didn't find a lot of reviews about the C1000 specifically. There were several on the C3000 and C3100, which are very similar, but I found very little about the C1000 itself. Now that I own one, I decided to put together my own review for others interested in this unit. It's on my web paget: BlackCardinal's C1000 Review
If you have any comments or suggestions I'd appreciate the feedback. (I think )

I have a 5500, and would like to use squashfs. Does someone have a compiled kernel module for the 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix kernel? The link for the attachment with the module in the original thread HERE is dead but I'd like to avoid having to put together a kernel source tree just to build this one module.
Also, is there a binary for mksquashfs available? Someone already compiled it for the Z but that link is dead, too.

I am thinking about replacing my old 5500 with a newer clamshell model, probably the C1000. I am a little concerned about the graphics speed, though, since I know that Sharp used the integrated LCD controller of the PXA270 instead of the W100 like on previous models. I've searched the forum and found a lot of discussion about the graphics hardware but no comparisons between, say, a C760 and a C1000 for playing games.
Can any people who've owned more than one clamshell model comment on how fast the C1000 (or C3K or C3100) seems graphics-wise compared to their older Zaurus? I am mostly concerned about video playback and games like Doom or the SNES emulator.
Would I be better off buying a C860 if graphics speed is important to me?

What's the difference, if any, between the two different Zaurus Software Indices?
When I've posted to one, it will also show up on the other, so it seems like one of them is just a mirror of the other, but with a different interface.
Just curious.
