Does anyone have any insight into how to go about rooting the Cosmo?

(Yes, yes, I know they've only just begun shipping ..!)

NB: directions to enable a relative noob to root a Communicator would be welcome. (I want to be able to use some of the root-only functions of t-ui launcher.)

So, I'd kind of like a rugged case for my Gemini, but options are problematic.

Option 1: if you can find one of the old Palm-Tec hard shell cases for a Psion 3/5, it actually fits! The footprint of the Gemini is nearly identical. However, the Gemini is shallower than the Psions, so requires about 5-8mm of padding. Alternatively, the case is too deep. I have one of these and it's the best I've found so far ... and they're rare as hens teeth even on eBay.

Option 2: The Otterbox Drybox 3250. Interior dimensions match, and it's IP68 waterproof and really rugged. Alas, the interior is about 5cm deeper than necessary for the Gemini! Room for a booster battery and cables and stuff, but ... more than I need.

Anyway. Dissatisfied with the leather sleeve; what are the chances of Planet doing a deal with a 3rd party vendor to produce a run of a Drybox sized exactly right for the Gemini and/or Cosmo? Basically a hard water/drop resistant case for transporting the PDA?

See subject; as a non-Android dude I'm finding the existing advice on flashing new firmware somewhat opaque, especially as I'm more interested in unlocking the Gemini (so I can install ad blockers and backup utilities, rather than dual-booting), preferably without losing my already-installed apps and data.

Any suggestions?

I ordered a camera module separately, and the order shows as locked, but there've been no updates to the Planet Computer order tracking database since early May.

I gather some folks have received camera modules; does anyone know if Planet have shipped them all, or if they're dribbling out slowly?

I suddenly realized that the Gemini has 5 lid LEDs. And of course the Google Voice button.

All I want now is a simple app that monitors the voice button and, when it's pressed (big clue: I have no use for the voice button -- I use mine as a PDA) flashes the LEDs to emulate a binary watch, displaying first the hour (in 24 hour format) and then, a second later, the minute past the hour. So that when my Gemini is closed I can use it as a very bulky, pointless, binary watch.

Anyone know if enough of the APIs are exposed to make this possible?
