Hello all,

The Gemini team sent in the announcement of a "new" app: Airmail. I downloaded it right away.
It essentially is a skin on the K9 mail client engine.

It looks nice and it seems that the team has tried to make use of the landscape screen.
That, on its own, is good news. If nobody else cares about the PDA landscape form factor, at least Planet does.

I used to use K9, but now (temporarily ?) switched over to Airmail.

It does have that unique British Planet PDA crapiness:

- It is unstable and crashes. Within the first 30 seconds it brexited itself: I tried the "import settings" feature. *crash*
I am quite amazed: are we all still considered beta testers ? It is also very special that a "skin" onto an otherwise very stable app can crash.

- Just like the other Planet apps: half of it is in Dutch, the other half is in English. Sloppy.

Anyway, Agenda seems to be more stable, so improvement is ongoing. I think I'll tinker with it a bit more.

Hello all,

What I particularly liked about my Psions and their agenda is that they kept all old appointments. I started with a 3a, but the old agenda imported itself without fault in the 5mx. Then on to the netBook. I even succeeded getting most of the stuff into the Nokia 9500 and then 9300i.

In short: I could look up old appointments (and their associated notes) from 1996 to 2018.

Here comes the Gemini...

Android only keeps old appointments in any Agenda App up to one year (only) in the past.
This seems to be a "feature".
Fortunately, the web interface still stores the old stuff, but that's not extremely handy on a Gemini, particularly when the Gem is not on line.

Any ideas on how to actually keep the old data ?

Would you recommend an App that stores both the Android Agenda and an off-line copy ? Which one ?

I currently use Acalendar+ and I really like the interface.

Hello forum members,

The Gemini is not very strong in receiving WiFI signals, but it becomes particularly troublesome when it needs to capture and hold a signal with the same SSID name, but multiple transmitters. Examples are:

- Free networks in the city, such as Antwerp Free Wifi
- Hotel WiFi
- The WiFi hotspots offered by my provider and transmitted by the other clients throughout Belgium, all known as "Telenet WiFree".

The Gemini's behaviour is the same. It shows a strong signal, but refuses to connect. Or worse: it has a connection and suddenly entirely looses it.

I think it accidentally switches over to another transmitter, but with a weaker signal. It then looses the signal.

Is this an Android thingy ? Is this a Gemini thingy ? Can it be improved somewhere in the advanced settings ?
My wife has Android 8 and does not have this problem.

Hello,

So I read around the Net that the Gemini charges itself through a dedicated fast-charge protocol. Indeed, mine does: 2 hours and it is full (and hot).

Could someone elaborate on where this magic is physically located ?

My car has a USB port marked "Charge Only" so clearly not a dataport.
I have a charging cable (bought at HEMA).
The Gemini charges, but only 15% during a 2 hour ride.

What slows this down ? The car connection ? The USB-A-to-C cable ? Or both ?

(A pity though... this charger from HEMA is actually a bunch of connectors, being USB A, C, the one for the iPad and two others. Quite nice to have a one-size-fits-all cable).

Hello,

The Gemini's stock Android already comes with two agendas.
They are both called Agenda.

I believe one of the two is the standard Android agenda, but anyone know what is the second one ?

I also installed the "Gemini Agenda", but that one is easily recognizable.
