So the keys on my second batch device work pretty well. I wish they were a bit quieter but otherwise, it's pretty good.

The only issue I am having is that even when I updated the Gemini keyboard app, some of the symbols don't work correctly.

I have a US keyboard and when I press Shift and the period key, it makes a greater than sign (>) instead of question mark. I get a less than sign from Shift and comma instead of slash.

The Fn punctuation symbols don't appear to do anything. The backslash and pipe key does single and double quotes (what the key should have been imo).

I have the latest Gemini keyboard app. When I have the Gemini keyboard selected as my input method, I get this behavior. When I choose the AOSP keyboard, it works as displayed.

I assume this is the behavior others have seen. Is that correct?

Just double checking you have gone through the keyboard app configuration. Go to Gemini Keyboard app, then configure and go through the steps. I am pretty sure that is all I did.

Yes, I did all that but I still have to use the Android ASOP Keyboard in order to get the correct symbols to appear. It's no big deal but I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this. I have a friend who is not a member here who has had a similar issue.

After messing around with the Gemini Keyboard input method some more, I discovered some bugs that are annoying. The worst is that bringing up the symbols box sometimes leaves a blank space at the bottom of the screen when you try to position the cursor with your finger on subsequent occasions. Super annoying.

I also think it is ridiculous that Planet made a dedicated backslash key in its US English layout. This is a character that is rarely typed on a non-Windows machine. The pipe character also is rarely typed as well. Instead, they should have made dedicated quotation mark keys as both are used more in every possible context (including command line use) than backslash and pipe.

Luckily, there is an Android app that allows you to customize key mappings. It's called External Keyboard Helper and can be downloaded in the Play Store.

EKH does not work with the Gemini's Function key maps, however, so I had to recreate the ones I wanted via the EKH interface using the Alt (Planet) key. I wasn't interested in the system functions though, so did not bother with those, only characters.

Now that I'm finished, I have a proper quotation marks key, no annoying symbol or emoji popups ever, no blank space to clear up at the bottom, and I also flipped my comma and period keys to be more comfortable for me.

Most of the Planet shortcuts I actually want (Screenshot, app switch, Caps Lock, and Power Off) still work as well, I am happy to say. I would like the volume keys to function but I suppose nothing is perfect.

For what it's worth I had the same problems and had to:

1. Update the Gemini keyboard app
2. Went through the new configure wizard in the keyboard app
3. Restarted -- still wasn't getting the right symbols
4. Went through configure wizard in keyboard app again

Finally started working correctly with my US keyboard layout after this.
