Cacko Rom 1.22 Is Available!
« Reply #45 on: January 03, 2005, 12:20:12 pm »
Great rom, but I'm still having a problem with my wireless card. I have a Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11 and I've followed all of the posted instructions (editing hostap_cs.conf, turning off autoconnect, iwconfig) but I still can't get it to work. As soon as I plug it in both the power and link light turn on and stay on. I can see it with a cardctl ident, but the tray applet doesn't show it loaded and the "connect" button in the network applet is grayed out. For the time being I've gone back to 1.21b, but I really hope I'll be able to use 1.22 soon! Thanks.

A couple of problems, one with a solution, one without.

In Settings/keyhelper.conf the QCop line used to switch keyboard layout on Fn+K is commented out. You need to remove the # to re-enable.

The more serious problem for me is that samba doesn't appear to be running across my WiFi link and I 'think' that this is used by the Sychronisation stuff. I was previously able to sync over Wifi - can't any more + for some reason the PC Link applet won't save the hostname that I specify.

I don't think it's a great idea putting smb.conf in a read only location... apart from that (and the Wifi bits not running with Autoconnect enabled... spotted already) looks quite nice.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to drop back to 1.21b for now.

Hi jpc8,
I had the same problem with my SMC-card each time when I tried to edit hostap_sc.conf with mc. Afterwards there was no Wireless at all. The card-led just went on and nothing happened any more.  Had to go back to the original hostap_sc.conf to get the card recognized again. Same problem each time I stored the file with mc.  Now it is recognized as Zcomax but works fine nevertheless. May be you have to try another editor?

Has anybody had any problem doing a backup/flash/restore ?

That is my biggest concern.

Thanks.

For those getting the undefined symbol problem (I had the same problem in Vim and mtr), I believe this is an ncurses problem.  Only ncurses 5 is installed so I dropped v4 on from an old copy I had and changed the libncurses4 symlink to point to the old version (leaving the v5 stuff alone) and the problem seemed to go away.
Perhaps it would be good to put libncurses4 in the next patch?

Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi maslovsky,
great work, really. I've just flashed it and did a little bit of exploring. Just one suggestion for a future fix...
I'd love to have screen(mouse)support with mc, couldn't you just add the -x option in the mc.sh?
I like the new icons and kino2 really became adult.
For now, i'm returning to my playing corner.
Thanks a lot.

For vim, I found that simply creating a file /etc/ld.so.preload containing the line:
Code: [Select]
/usr/lib/libgcc_s.sofixed the __udivsi3 undefined symbol problem.

Hi Anton,

I like Lisa very much. First time
that mc comes up in good lookl thanks to the vga font.
Besides my WLAN card Linksys WCF12 works out of the box

Now comes "the but":

1. the included libSDL does not work on
my C860(seeems to be for 5x00). I installed the Cxx0 version
from zports.sf.net - that works fine
for crimson fields on C series.

2. Deactivating the liblusscreensaver.so from the applet causes my C760 to restart (reproducable).

3. A friend of mine said that Elena stopped charging when the battery is full again - Lisa seems to charge all the time...

Lisa is a very good mixture - thx a lot.

Uwe

Anyone .... where is it (in the backup file from the "Backup/Restore" program) and how do I extract the file that contains my Sharp Adressbook file.

Backup file created by Backup/restore is s simple TAR file - it can be opened by any archiver. PIM data is stored in /home/zaurus/Applications/dtm directory.

Just wondering two things:

1) Does this work with 6000L?  (I know it uses the 6000L version ofr Opera) but will it run on 6000L

2) For a given unit (C860 or whatever)....Will doing a "Backup", then "Flash new ROM", then "RESTORE" work?  Or is there more to it?

I mean, do I have to worry about backup missing files or grabbing bits of the old OS  when I restore?

Thanks.

BTW.  The list is impressive....what is left for version 1.3

Also, was wondering if the auto-off-on-clamshell-close was made as an option?

Thanks !!!!!

I have the following problem: I don't see the Unicode input method. Install only left me with CyrKbd and Handwriting.

What is wrong?
Yes, it's indeed missing. I will fix this problem in the hotfic. Meanwhile, you can copy attached file to the /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/inputmethods and then restart Qtopia.

There is no need to.  The Fn + Rght Shift combination does the same job.

I've just tried  and everything worked just fine. I set IP address on Zaurus to be 192.168.0.170 - in PC Link application, in Network Settiongs and in Zaurus manager app on PC. Wireless interface on my PC has 192.168.0.1 as the IP addreess. Synching works fine when activated from PC. So, please, double check your settings...

Also, I can see contents of my zaurus via samba (\\192.168.0.170 or \\zaurus)

Yes, I see that too.  However it does gets updated when you reboot your Z.

You tipicaly don't need to edit that file to make Samba wok via wireless. At least I didn't have to. And you can always get a writable copy in no time.

I hope you'll give it another try.  There is some of your work included in this ROm and it's a pity to see you not using it.

Yes, you seem to be right. I hoped that ncursee 5 would be backwards compatible with applications that use version 4. But unfortunately it's not. I'll make sure there is a separate ncurses version 4 in the next hotfix
